Privacy Policy

heARTapps makes native Mac apps that keep your data on your Mac. We don't run ad networks, we don't embed tracking SDKs, and we don't sell or share your information. Most of our apps collect nothing about you at all. Where any information is involved — an email you give us, a payment you make, a font an app downloads — this page tells you exactly what happens to it.

Who we are

The apps

None of the heARTapps apps require an account, and none of them contain advertising trackers, analytics, telemetry or crash reporting. What you create with them — your documents, your timesheets, your photos — never comes to us. They do make some network connections: to check for their own updates, to confirm a license if you've bought one, and in some cases to fetch something you've specifically asked for. Here is each app, in full:

  • FontFetch keeps your fonts, collections and design schemes on your Mac. It contains no analytics, telemetry or crash-reporting software at all — not switched off, simply not built in. It makes four kinds of network connection:
    • Fetching fonts. When you browse, preview or install a family, it requests the catalog and the font files from Google's font services. No account, and nothing about you is sent. Google's handling of those requests is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
    • Checking for updates. On a schedule, it fetches a small file from our server listing the newest version. Nothing about you is sent — not even your Mac's model or system version, because the update checker's optional profiling is switched off.
    • Your license, if you've bought one. When you activate a license, and about once a month afterwards to keep your seat registered, FontFetch contacts our licensing server. It sends your license — which includes the name and email address you bought with — a one-way identifier derived from your Mac's hardware, your Mac's name, the app's version number, which stage of the trial or license you're on, and two small installation details: whether you were offline the first time you opened it, and how long after installing that was. It never sends your documents, your fonts, or anything you have made. Every launch in between is entirely offline. Three other things reach that same server, and each happens only at the moment you ask for it: starting your free trial, showing your list of registered devices, and removing one.
    • Looking at a site you ask about. When you paste a website's address to read its fonts, colors and icons, FontFetch loads that page in the background — the address you typed, and nothing else. The request goes to that site, not to us; its operator sees an ordinary visit, the same as if you had opened it in a browser. FontFetch reads what the page declares and never downloads the fonts it serves.
  • Markless opens and saves the Markdown files you choose, on your Mac. There is no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting — writing and editing happen entirely on your machine, and nothing about what you write is ever sent anywhere. Markless does make three network connections, and here is all of them:
    • Checking for updates. On launch and about once a day, it asks our server whether a newer version exists. Nothing about you is sent.
    • Your license, if you've bought one. When you first activate a license, Markless confirms it with our licensing server — and occasionally afterwards, when the confirmation it stored has expired. It sends your license, which includes the name and email address you bought with, together with a one-way identifier derived from your Mac's hardware and your Mac's name. It never sends your documents or anything you have written. Opening your list of registered devices sends only your license; removing one also sends an identifier for the seat being removed, so the right one is freed. If you haven't bought a license, Markless never contacts us about licensing at all — the free version has no check-in of any kind.
    • The Claude writing commands, only when you use them. These are off until you add your own Anthropic API key in Settings, which is stored only on your Mac. When you run a command, only the text you have selected — never the whole document — goes from your Mac straight to Anthropic under your own account and their terms. It never passes through heARTapps, we never see it, and we never bill for it. Markless keeps no copy. Apple's built-in Writing Tools, the other option, run entirely on your device and need no key at all.
  • TravelMapper works entirely on your Mac. Your photos, trips, and albums stay on your computer, and we never receive them. There is one exception, and it happens only if you choose it: ordering a printed album.
  • Magic Timesheet reconstructs your billable hours by reading local signals you point it at — file activity, your local git history, and a calendar you import — plus the sources you choose to connect. Your timesheet, the files you point it at, your git history, and your calendar all stay on your Mac, never uploaded to any heARTapps cloud (there's no account). The app reaches the network only two ways: it pulls from the sources you connect using your own credentials — WordPress, GitHub, and your IMAP mail server — and it contacts our licensing server to start or validate your trial or license, sending a device fingerprint (not your name or email), your license key, the app version, and platform. No behavioral data is ever sent. The timesheets and invoices you export are yours, saved where you put them.

Printed photo albums

When you order a print, TravelMapper builds a finished, print-ready PDF of that one album and uploads it to our storage so the print service can collect it. We pass that file to Peecho B.V., our printing partner in the Netherlands (EU), who prints, packs, and ships the book, and who takes the payment for it.

What is shared

  • The album PDF — the photographs and captions in the album you chose to print
  • Its cover image, shown as the preview on the checkout page
  • Its title, page count, and page size

Nothing else: no trip data, no location history, no other albums, no account details.

Where it is stored — a private storage bucket at Hetzner in Helsinki, Finland, reachable only through signed links that expire. The files are deleted within 24 hours of your order.

About Peecho — because you pay Peecho directly at checkout, Peecho collects your name, delivery address, and payment details itself, as an independent controller. Those never pass through us and we never see them. Their privacy policy: peecho.com/privacy-policy.

Legal basis — carrying out the order you asked us for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

If you never order a print, none of this applies.

The website & the mailing list

Our website (heartapps.app) is a static site with no advertising trackers. If you enter your email to be notified about a launch or to get occasional studio updates, we store that email only to send you what you asked for. Those messages go out through an email-delivery provider (Resend) acting on our behalf; we never sell or rent your address, and every message has a one-click unsubscribe. Ask us any time to see or delete your address — one email does it.

Buying an app

Direct purchases are handled by Paddle, our authorized reseller (Merchant of Record). They process your payment details under their own privacy policy — heARTapps never receives your full card or banking information. We receive only what's needed to honor your license (typically your name and email).

Support

If you email support, we keep that correspondence so we can actually help you, and for our own records. We don't use it for anything else.

What we don't do

No advertising trackers. No analytics SDKs inside the apps. No selling or sharing of your data. No cross-app profiling. No data brokers. The business model is simply people paying for tools they find useful — there's no company here that would benefit from your data.

Children

heARTapps apps are general-audience tools, aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

The apps don't gather information about you as you use them, so what we hold is small and specific: any email you've given us for the mailing list or for support, and — if you've bought an app — the license record that goes with that purchase. You can ask to see or delete any of it at any time by emailing hello@heartapps.app. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have formal rights to access or delete personal information; email us and we'll honor them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and move the effective date above. Material changes to how we handle the mailing list will be announced to the list.
